A dental implant is the gold-standard, long-term way to replace a single missing tooth, several missing teeth, or a full mouth of teeth. Missing teeth can affect what you're able to eat, your speech and your confidence.

An implant is a titanium screw placed in the jawbone, where it acts like a natural root and supports a replacement tooth, bridge or denture. The result looks and works like your natural teeth. Implants are planned and placed by our implantologist, Dr Nadeem Rathore.

Tired of a loose denture?

Conventional dentures rely on your remaining teeth, or your gums alone, to hold them in place, so they can feel loose and unstable. Anchoring a denture to implants gives you the confidence to bite into your favourite foods and smile with pride.

  • Stays firmly in place when you eat and talk
  • Improves how well you can bite and chew
  • Discreet and natural-looking
  • A long-term solution

Am I suitable for implants?

Most healthy adults with enough bone can have implants. Gum disease needs treating first, and smoking or some medical conditions can affect healing. If bone has shrunk after a tooth was lost, a bone graft may be recommended. Your assessment will cover all of this.

Looking after implants

Implants can't decay, but the gum and bone around them can become inflamed if they're not kept clean. Good daily cleaning and regular check-ups and hygiene visits are key to keeping them healthy for the long term.

Questions

Things patients often ask

Does implant surgery hurt?

Many patients expect it to, but you'll be completely numbed with local anaesthetic, so you won't feel anything during the procedure. Some tenderness for a few days afterwards is normal and usually managed with everyday painkillers.

How long does the whole process take?

It varies. The implant usually needs a few months to fuse with the bone before the final teeth are fitted, and longer if a bone graft is needed. We'll give you a personal timeline at your assessment.

How long do implants last?

With good care and regular check-ups, implants can last for many years. The crown on top may need replacing at some point through normal wear.

Can my current denture be used with implants?

Often, yes. An existing denture can frequently be adapted to fit onto implants. We'll check at your assessment.
