Invisalign® aligners move your teeth through a series of carefully controlled steps. Unlike traditional braces, Invisalign lets us show you what your smile will look like before treatment starts, and control the speed and amount of movement of each tooth.
The aligners are custom-made from SmartTrack®, a clear material created exclusively for Invisalign, so they're virtually invisible and far more discreet than other ways of straightening teeth.
Wearing your aligners
Aligners work best when they're worn for around 22 hours a day. You take them out only to eat, to have hot drinks and to clean your teeth. Each aligner in the series is worn for between one week and ten days before you move on to the next.
How long does treatment take?
It depends on how complex your case is, and it's generally comparable to traditional braces. Wearing your aligners for the full 22 hours a day keeps treatment on track.
After treatment
Teeth naturally want to drift back, so you'll wear a retainer afterwards, usually when you go to bed. If retainers aren't worn regularly, teeth can move back and undo the work. As we tell every patient: wear your retainers for as long as you want straight teeth.
